The beautiful organic Aalto tray from Iittala’s Alvar Aalto collection imitates the rounded shape of the iconic Aalto vase, but this time reimagined in plywood for a soft and natural look.
Inspired by the unique wood works of Alvar Aalto, the new wooden Aalto tray is a lovely addition to any Nordic-style home. It features a wave-shaped divider for organising everyday objects and is made of birch veneer with a soft lacquer finish. It is safe and sturdy for carrying wine glasses to the balcony or serving treats to friends and family – a versatile design object that also makes a beautiful gift for special occasions.
The wavy shape in the middle not only adds a unique touch but also serves as a divider – you can for instance place glasses or teacups on one side and cookies or snacks on the other. For a buffet-style table settings, the tray can be placed at the end of the table, holding cutlery and napkins. The possibilities are endless.
The tray is available in two different sizes; 300 x 220mm and 500mm x 365mm.
About the Alvar Aalto collection:
In 1936, Alvar Aalto’s series of glass vases won first prize in the 1936 Karhula-Iittala Glass Design Competition. Compared to the decorative objects of the time, the simple yet organic shape of this vase was a revolutionary statement. Inspired by waves (“aalto” in Finnish) in the water, the vase is a symbol of Finnish design and one of the most famous glass objects in the world.
The collection is a staple of modern Scandinavian design and Iittala’s most iconic series. Additional items inspired by Aalto and created by Pentagon Design such as steel bowls, wooden platters and votives can also be found in the Alvar Aalto Collection.
