Are you a plant lover with a passion for Nordic style – then this post is for you!
In this new series here on the blog I will each time share my top finds with you in different categories from interior, style, design and more. This time I have searched the web to collect my favourite items for all plant lovers out there, so whether you are a newbie or have green fingers I hope there is something you like. Let’s get started:
Lil Plot is a small company founded by two friends in Helsinki, Finland. I discovered their tree growing kits on Instagram and simply loved the concept! It is the perfect way to add greenery if you live in an urban environment without a garden or outdoor space. And especially great now when it is harder to get your hands on plants or even go to the store. These kits get sent to you in the post. Not only are indoor trees beautiful and good for the air, growing one from seed is one of the most rewarding projects you will ever start. I have just planted my two trees: a eucalyptus tree which is the bestseller and the coffee tree which is great for first time growers. So excited to take care of my new plant babies and see them grow.
Each tree growing kit consists of a pack of quality inspected seeds, supercharged soil, a recyclable & waterproof cardboard pot as well as easy-to-follow instructions, so you have everything you need to get started. The lovely people at Lil Plot has been kind enough to let me offer you a €5 discount on your order – just use the code SCANDIFEELING at checkout! A great treat for yourself or a nice way to send someone a gift thought the post that they will cherish. You can add a message to the gift receiver when checking out to make it even more special.
Hay’s beautiful and minimal watering can is a combination of functionality and modern design typical of its designer, Shane Schneck. The handle-free watering can can be held onto for example by its thin neck. The slender, elongated spout makes it easy to pour the water directly to the roots of the plant or into the watering tube of your self-watering planter. Make the sculptural watering can a part of your home decor and keep your plants alive in style.
I love the fun and playful expression this Midsummer Dream vase brings. The decorative ceramic object was designed by the Finnish COMPANY for Artek. It is a part of a collection which celebrates the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Japan. Each of the handmade, charmingly naive objects celebrates one seasonal ritual of the Finnish calendar.
Danish design brand Ferm Living is taking their popular Plant Box to new heights. This cashmere-coloured two-tier console table has the same sleek lines you recognise from the series, but in an entirely new configuration. The upper tray and the lower shelf are ideal for storing and showing off decorative accessories as well as practical, everyday items such as cups, plates and bottles. The slim silhouette means it will fit into most spaces, as a indoor plant stand or balcony storage solution. Perfect for any plant lovers!
The Little Book of House Plants and Other Greenery by Emma Sibley is a source of green inspiration for small-space gardening, featuring a directory of 60 of the most popular varieties of foliage to own. From dramatic palms and tropical leafy wonders to beautiful ferns and flowering potted plants; this book covers everything you need to know about nurturing and growing your own. Each of the 60 plants presented in the book is accompanied by easy-to-follow breakdown of all the essential requirements for that variety including details on size, growth, and flowering, along with any extra tips on caring for that specific plant. As a plant newbie this book is on my wishlist!
This one is for the green thumbs and plant-lovers out there! Treat a loved one who loves their greenery on their birthday with this adorable Happy Birthday greeting card. Complete with cute, hand-drawn illustrations and rose gold foil details, they’ll love the personal feel it brings. Comes with a coordinating envelope and is blank inside for your own personal message.
I love the idea of having an apron for gardening, and the look of this one is just perfect with its minimal style. It is available in a variety of colours and is made of a cotton and linen blend. Obviously you can use this apron for multiple other purposes too: in the kitchen when cooking, during cleaning, for art and craft, substitute painter smocks, while in woodshop or when barbecuing… It would make a great practical gift for a housewarming or a birthday.
How adorable is this mini greenhouse? It is a table-top version of the popular larger Greenhouse by Design House Stockholm which also comes with legs. The greenhouse was designed by Atelier 2+, a Bangkok-based design studio that wanted to bring Swedish nature to the indoor. It is such a great addition to your home: a small greenhouse that has space for an entire little plant kingdom. The Greenhouse mini is made of lacquered ash with a removable base made of galvanized steel and also comes in black.
If you are lucky to have a garden or even a terrace, this gardening bag from Marimekko is such a great accessory. It features a simple grid pattern designed by Armi Ratia in 1952 for the perfect Nordic look and is very practical. Made of heavyweight cotton with a dirt repellent finish, the bag is the perfect aid for carrying your tools and other garden necessities around. Due to its minimalist design complete with sophisticated leather handles, the garden tote is also great for shopping or storage. Great right?
This metal mist sprayer available to purchase from Arket is both decorative and practical. Equipped with a press plunger, it produces a fine mist spray, perfect for helping indoor plants retain moisture. Definitely an item I will be purchasing as I have heard so many great things about misting your indoor plants.
Because of our busy lives remembering to water plants, and especially those hanging high, can happen… Because of that, these self-watering, decorative flowerpots from Eva Solo are great. They are made of stoneware and plastic with nylon wick and leather cord, and feature an organic design with a self-watering system that provides optimum growing conditions for herbs and flowers. Nylon wicks in the bottom of the upper pot allow the plant to draw up the water it needs from the water reservoir in the bottom pot. The plastic plant insert has a watering channel which makes it easy to refill.
Available from COS, this ceramic plant pot with handles by Marie Michielssen has an organic and imperfect expression I adore. The artist has a profound love of paper-mache and reusable materials, this pot plays with visuals and enriches the light of any indoor space. It fits perfect in a Nordic style home and adds personality and character to your space.
Another smart watering gadget: Iittala’s new watering bottle set offers a convenient way to water plants when you are away from home on a holiday. It is easy to use, just fill the watering bottle with clean water and push it gently into the soil in an upright position. The bulbs will water your plants evenly for up to a week. These are a great housewarming gift or a handy tool for any green thumb.
I had to include this cute white plant pot from Broste Copenhagen with legs because I have it myself and love it. It comes in two different sizes and has such a simple yet unique look. Add this fun and nordic decor item to your home and let its playful expression give your shelf that little extra.
This green planting set from Sagaform is a great item for everyone from newbies to pro’s in the garden. The set includes two planting shovels and one rake in a beautiful colourful case to store them nicely in.
This keepsake box includes 12 nordic-inspired note cards and envelopes beautifully designed by Petra Borner. She is a Swedish artist whose signature work consists of bold, brightly colored paper illustrations. A great
