Here it is – welcome to our new kitchen! What do you think?

We still have not completely finished it but I could not wait to share some images on the blog because I am just so happy with it. The one thing that is left is to add a long open shelf over the backsplash which will have lights and plug sockets under. But you know how it is…things can take time and since we did an almost complete renovation certain things were not the first priority.

I love the colour we chose for the doors – the Veddinge cabinets from Ikea. These grey smooth, sleek doors brings a soft and modern yet unique expression to the kitchen. Even though they are grey, it seems to change its appearance throughout the day as you can see from my photos. Sometimes the colour seems more blueish and cold, other times it has a warmer tone to it.

One of the things I was very excited about in our new home was this PH 5 lamp designed by Poul Henningsen – a true Scandinavian classic! This exact one used to hang in my parent’s kitchen when I grew up so it brings lots of lovely memories around the dinner table. When my mum came to visit to help me unpack she took it with her all the way from Norway and now it is finally up in our kitchen in Italy. It is all about those little things that help make a home feel special, don’t you think?

You can find more information about the design process of our kitchen as well as links to everything we used in my last post (here). And as soon as it is completely done I will share more images and wider shots.

Very lovely kitchen. But isn’t it complicated to keep light-colored kitchen tidy? Does fat stains easily remove from such surface?

You must be over the moon, Ingrid. The colour, the worktops… and the PH5 pendant light is fantastic!
