august book cozy coffee scandinavian hygge lifestyle

Goodbye August – time for hygge in the kitchen!

August is over and the most hyggelig time of the year is almost upon us. Are you looking forward to colder temperatures or do you long for an endless summer? I must admit that I love autumn-time, but I do prefer a slow transition so I am not fully ready to give up on summer just yet… In fact, I have a little beach holiday to the south of Italy planned for late September so that will be the last of summer for us this year.

As we get into autumn and winter, I know most of us will be spending more time at home and especially in the kitchen – even more so this year because of the current situation in the world. I can’t wait for more time to cook, bake and enjoy quality time around the table with flickering lights whether its with comfort food on the plate or a coffee and my favourite book.

Talking about food, I wanted to introduce you to my fiancé’s newest project: Simply Italian! For those who do not know, my fiancé Claudio is Italian and a very enthusiastic home cook who is passionate about Italian food (which is a big bonus for me because I get to enjoy all of his delicious creations.) Because of this, he decided to create a YouTube channel with video recipes showing how you can simply make delicious and authentic Italian food at home. So far he has shared how to make an authentic Italian pizza as well as homemade pasta & tomato sauce – if you love Italian food (who doesn’t?!) then make sure you check his channel out. I will tempt you with a few photos:

For those who have been following my own YouTube journey, I can promise more hygge videos coming soon with more baking, hygge and tips for how to find that Scandinavian feeling. In the meantime, I wanted to remind you to try my easy recipe for cinnamon buns which to me is the ultimate cozy autumn treat!

We have now reached over 420 subscribers, so thank you so much for your support! If you haven’t already, please subscribe to That Scandinavian Feeling on YouTube for more hygge in the kitchen.

I absolutely adore autumn and all it brings! I grew up in Washington State, US, and we grow more apples than any other place in the country. It’s also a place with a lot of mountains, evergreen forests, rivers, lakes, coastline, and then countless agriculture abounds; farms, ranches, etc. Watching apples ripen on the trees, the tamarack tree needles turn golden from their usual green, which is the only species of evergreen to do so, and then the land change as it readies for winter is one of my most favorite things to do.

I am so ready for fall and all the cozy vibes already. I am thinking about bringing out the fall decor soon. Your fiancés food looks so good – if only I weren’t so lazy in the kitchen. Haha
