I have been overwhelmed by all the lovely images shared on Instagram since I started the hashtag #thatscandinavianfeeling, and love looking through the feed every day. The photos are all so cosy and positive which portrays the Nordic summer mood perfectly. It is a time of hope and happiness, and even though the weather’s not always the best, us Scandinavians always finds happiness in the little things. This month I have again selected 4 of the images to share and have also asked each of them to tell us what that Scandinavian feeling means to them.

1 // @latazzinablu
“My scandinavian feeling is to sip a cup of coffee while sitting on the veranda, breathing the freezy morning air.”

2 // @karibecks
“I’m very inspired by Scandinavian design and like simple style and clean lines. A modern Scandinavian style with elements of black, white and natural describe my style well, this image is an example of that.”

3 // @thisishomebnb
”If I think of Scandinavia, I always imagine a long and cold winter and a family staying inside around a fireplace in a warm and cozy atmosphere. The Scandinavian feeling I love and the look for my bed&breakfast is a mix of little details – such as a slice of banana bread and a cup of tea – that make you feel relaxed and welcomed. Beauty is in the little things of everyday life and Scandinavians knows that best.”

4 // @ingvildmusikk
“To me the Scandinavian feeling is about soft colours, clean lines and nature. I love to mix wood, plants and ceramics. By putting new and old design together I try to create a feeling of timelessness.”

As this will be a monthly post, I do hope you join in and share your images on Instagram too! Its a great way for us all to get together and spread some hygge. So what is that Scandinavian feeling to you?

Ingrid Opstad

That Scandinavian feeling is a blog by Ingrid Opstad, a Norwegian journalist living in Italy. Ingrid wants her blog to represent the feeling of coziness and calm with a Nordic simplistic, minimalistic style. The blog is intended to share her knowledge and love for Scandinavia; touching upon everything from interiors, design, lifestyle, travel to hygge. A place where you can get inspired to find that Scandinavian feeling yourself, no matter where in the world you are.
